Peter Paul & Mary and the B-52′s at Ravinia This Week

One of the most successful American folk groups of all time Peter, Paul & Mary were a Ravinia favorite for nearly five decades. At 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, Peter and Paul return to the festival to celebrate 50 years of music and friendship and pay tribute to the late Mary Travers, who lost her battle with leukemia in 2009. The group is known for such hits as “Puff the Magic Dragon” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”

A free chamber music concert featuring artists from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute will take place  July 20, at 2 p.m. in Bennett • Gordon Hall.

Retro rockers the B-52’s, the band behind “Love Shack” and “Roam” return to the festival on Wednesday, July 21 at 8 p.m. They are joined by The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, which has evolved in their 30-year history into a world-famous music machine known for their high-octane performances.
