k.d. lang returns to bergenPAC with Siss Boom Bang on her 2012 North American Tour on Tuesday, Aug 21, at 8PM
k.d. lang, the Canadian pop and country singer-songwriter, known for such hits as the Grammy and Juno Award-winningConstant Craving and Miss Chatelaine, will be performing with her new band, Siss Boom Bang, Tuesday, August 21st at 8PM.  Their recently released new album, Sing It Loud, has won wide praise as "a must-have for every music fan."

k.d. lang is that rare performer who, over 25 years as a major-label artist, has matured before our very ears. The Western Canada native launched her career with a blend of country-rock stylings and playfully punk-like attitude, by turns whimsical and subversive; back then, she practically put the alternative in alt-country. But from the very beginning, her bravura singing belied her kitschy cowgirl outfits and spiky hair; anyone lucky enough to attend very first appearance in the United States, on a triple bill of unsigned artists at New York City's Bottom Line, could hear that she was marked for greatness.

Sing it Loud is lang's first record made entirely with a band of her own since the pair of albums with the Reclines that launched her career over 20 years ago. "The big, beautiful voice of k.d. lang swoops, purrs and soars" on the album, says the Los Angeles Times. USA Today says it "nods to lang's alt-country roots while reinforcing her reputation as a singer of genre-defying dexterity and beauty."

GAYBY

Jenn (Jenn Harris) and Matt (Matthew Wilkas) are best friends from college who are now in their thirties. Single by choice, Jenn spends her days teaching hot yoga and running errands for her boss. Matt suffers from comic-book writer's block and can't get over his ex-boyfriend. They decide to fulfill a youthful promise to have a child together... the old-fashioned way. Can they navigate the serious and unexpected snags they hit as they attempt to get their careers and dating lives back on track in preparation for parenthood? Gayby is an irreverent comedy about friendship, growing older, sex, loneliness, and the family you choose.

"A hilariously bitchy but sweet comedy." - Aaron Hillis, The Village Voice
"Warm characters, an appealing cast and tangy observations on friendship, dating and relationships."
- David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
"A fantastic first feature for a major new comedy voice." - Jordan Hoffman, About.com
