This year, Montreal Pride is going back to their roots, and connecting with the community in more ways than before. There are new events on the program for women, a children’s day in the Gay Village, events for teens and for older people, plus the usual line-up of great shows and parties for men and for women.
Community Day this year will be on Saturday, August 18, and the Pride Parade will be on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
The two spokespersons this year are fascinating people, each with a unique perspective on LGBT issues. David Testo is a professional soccer player from North Carolina who played for the Montreal Impact. He officially came out last, drawing lots of local and international media attention.
Jean-Luc Romero is a politician from France and a highly respected AIDS activist. He will be participating in our human rights conference, addressing the subject of serophobia. Just before coming to Montreal Pride, Mr. Romero will be speaking at the International AIDS Conference in Washington D.C.
